About Me

I grew up in London, England, gaining a BA in French with European Literature from Bristol University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from London University. After teaching High School French for 3 years, I embarked on a 2-year odyssey through Central and South America, and spent much of the next decade travelling around India and Nepal, Southeast Asia, North Africa, Eastern Europe, North America, and Cuba. During this time, I worked as a travel writer, publishing eight guide books. I finally settled down in Canada, and began working toward my true vocation: Counselling.

I acquired my Master's degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, and eventually became a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have been proudly associated with Greater Victoria Citizens' Counselling Centre for many years, first as a counsellor, then as an assistant trainer. I have also worked for NEED Crisis Line, Cool Aid, in the Mental Health and Addictions department of VIHA, and as a Support Counsellor at Woodwynn Farms Therapeutic Community. An irrepressible humanist and optimist, I believe passionately in the power and beauty of the human spirit, and have spent many years pondering life's deeper questions, searching for answers within mysticism, psychology, philosophy, mythology, music, art, literature, conversation and travel. My goals in life are to keep growing, and to help others recognize and fulfil their highest potential. As a client-directed practitioner, I constantly strive to perfect and combine the many therapeutic strategies at my disposal in order to meet the individual needs of each unique client.

I am happily married with two beautiful children. My passions include music, nature, travel, books, movies, soccer, spirituality, yoga, and food.
